Picnic in the Park is an annual event - and we’re delighted to be taking part for the first time. This year the event will be celebrating the 90th anniversary of when the Earl of Carlisle donated the land which is now Carlisle Park. The theme is about promoting nature so why not come along and find out more about the work that we do. We’ll have lots of hedgehog things to buy - or find out how you can get involved. Hope to see you there!
We’ll be running our stall again at the lovely Whittingham Show. Why not come and talk to us about the work we do. You can get involved in lots of ways - by volunteering, fostering a hedgehog or by providing a release site. We’ll also have lots of hedgehog related things to buy and games for the children. We look forward to seeing you!
The Children’s Day at Wooler is a huge countryside and farming event for younger school age children. Each year around 1,500 pupils and staff attend from across Northumberland and Tyneside. There are lots of demonstrations and information about the animals and habitats that make up our countryside. Many of the children attending last year had never seen a hedgehog. Our stall shows children how we look after them and how they live in the wild.
We'll be at this lovely country show again this year. Please come and talk to us about how you can help by volunteering, fostering a hog or providing a release site for example. we will have some merchandise to buy or you can take part in one of the games we have on the stall. We look forward to meeting you.
This is a first for us but we hope to educate and enthuse our younger generations about hedgehogs - we don't think that should be too difficult!
The event is specifically planned by the Glendale Agricultural Society to give children of all abilities aged between 5 and 11 years, first-hand experience of rural life. The day is free of charge to schools and any Primary or First school from Northumberland and North Tyneside is eligible to apply for places.
The event will be held on the Glendale Showfield and is not open to the general public.
Some of our volunteers will be at the Pet and Equestrian store in Alnwick on Easter Saturday. One of our aims here at NHRT is educating the public about the current unhappy plight of our hedgehog population. Please come and say hello - we will be happy to answer any questions you might have and you can find out more about how you can help.
Alnorthumbria Veterinary Group has long supported us and the Group is having an Open Day to celebrate 10 years since their thriving Alnwick practice opened.
Come along and see us there and you can support two great causes at the same time but ultimately support our animal friends be they scaly, furry, prickly... you get the idea. We look forward to seeing you.
The annual Rothbury Street Fair is a great family day out with something to suit all ages. This year it is being held on spring Bank Holiday Monday.
With a whole variety of stalls, food, live music and entertainment it's a local event not to be missed.
All this and you can support the local hedgehogs too! Please come and see us there.
This event is held every year and aims to encourage people to think more about our declining hedgehog numbers and what they can do to help minimise the difficulties that hedgehogs face every time they venture out and about. More information about how to get involved can be found by clicking on the following link http://www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk/hedgehog-awareness-week-2017/
If you would like to help us fundraise and promote our prickly friends please get in touch.
