In May a hedgehog was brought into us because it had become trapped overnight in an uncovered drain. ‘Rees’ had worn her front claws down trying to escape and was caked in mud. After we shared Rees’ story on Facebook we were contacted by Northumbrian Water and a company called Fast Flow, who had been carrying out the work. They told us that they have now changed their working practices to make sure that any holes and trenches always have a ramp so that wildlife can get out - what a great outcome! We were also delighted to see Gordon and two of his Fast Flow colleagues yesterday when they brought in a generous donation and lots of food for the hedgehogs. We’d like to thank them for their support and we’re pleased to say that Rees is recovering well and will be released soon.
